Sideshow Sells Our Junk

June 2nd, 2010

Hello readers,

As they say, one man’s crap is another man’s treasure.  Well that’s not a direct quote, but you get the idea. Know where that quote came from? The internets told me here.

Anyway, check this out.  Sideshow is having our 2nd Annual Sideshow Junkyard on Saturday, June 12th and Sunday, June 13th from 10am to 4pm. All our goodies from deep within our closets and storage spaces will be on sale on my apartment stoop at 2537 W Leland Ave in the lovely and sunny Lincoln Square. All the proceeds made from the Junkyard go directly to fund Sideshow’s Fall 2010 production, Theories of the Sun by Kathleen Akerley!

This is the very stoop!

Last year we had so much junk. Loads of junk. This year, we have outdone ourselves on our junk collecting abilities. There will be furniture, chairs, kitchen supplies, clothing, electronics, and piles upon piles of FABRIC!

Let me take a moment to discuss the fabric. It is epic. We received an in-kind donation of a truck full of fabric. Yards and yards of every color, style, and pattern you can image. We at Sideshow have taken just a small amount of this fabric for our own purposes, and have LOADS left over we want to share with you. At a very discounted rate. Better than a steal. So affordable, it’s terrifying. Take it home to make curtains, skirts, dresses, pillows, quilts, totes, or any matter of DIY projects, including this:

So this probably sounds like the best Junkyard ever. And it is. But there’s one thing that makes it even better…BAKED GOODS! Sideshow staffers are amazing bakers and therefore we include a bake sale with our junk. Enjoy home made cookies, brownies, and gooey rice krispy treats. Bring your children over for a capri sun, or enjoy one for yourself.

To recap – the place to be on Saturday, June 12th and Sunday, June 13th between 10am – 4pm is at the Sideshow Junkyard. There, you can buy some amazing stuff, including FABRIC out the wazoo. You can also hang out on the stoop and eat baked goods and drink fruit juice.

We hope to see you there!

I promise, that guy will be there.
