Matt will appear as a young Tom Stoppard in Sideshow's upcoming production of Theories of the Sun. Other Sideshow work includes Everything Freezes: another winter's tale, Dante Dies!! (and then things get weird), and ongoing work with the ensemble devised piece, Strangerland. His performance work began with the Cherry Tree Players in Lynchburg, Virginia well over a decade ago. Since then he's appeared in some 60 productions, including two seasons with The Lost Colony. Matt earned his BA in Drama from the University of Virginia where he received the 2007 William Demoville Pettway Prize and appeared in numerous productions including Scapin, As You Like It, Waiting for Lefty, Road, Shakespeare's R&J, The Violet Hour, and Private Lives, which earned him an Irene Ryan nomination. He also appeared in a staged reading of Third with Jane Alexander at Hollins University. Other performance credits include work with Dog and Pony, Heritage Repertory Theatre, Live Arts, the Earl Hamner, Jr. Theatre, URT, the Lemming Street Players, and most recently with Glass Theatre, where he scratched "playing Harold Hill in The Music Man" off his bucket list.
