We are pleased to present a one-night-only stream of an archival recording of Mia Chung's 2018 hit play, directed by ensemble member Elly Green. Two North Korean sisters plan an elaborate escape from the “Best Nation in the World,” only to be separated at the border. Now in two strange and separate worlds filled with outrageous characters, they must navigate barriers of language and bureaucracy, reckon with the ways that culture and country can shape us, and discover that survival requires sacrifice.
TICKETS:
Pay-what-you-can: make a donation of any amount (or watch for free!)
DINNER AND A SHOW:
Orders for dinner delivered to your door have ended. But it's not to late to donate a meal to Farm, Food, Familias!
If you have already ordered meals to your home, we will be in touch to arrange a delivery window between 1-6 PM CST on Sunday.
DONATE A MEAL:
Everyone deserves a seat at the table. You for Me for You contains themes of displacement, specifically from North Korea, the choice to defect, expatriate, relocate and redefine home. There is an emphasis on community belonging, food and hospitality as a critical part of this play, and of all our cultures and societies. We wanted to raise awareness about the experience of folks who have walked out of North Korea, as well as support organizations in our local community fighting other forms of displacement and poverty.
Sideshow and our partners at Paramount Catering have committed to making direct meal donations in March to Farm, Food, Familias, a mutual aid project delivering meals to families in Little Village, Englewood and South Chicago. Please join us in purchasing a meal donation as part of your order!
SPECIAL THANKS:
This fundraiser is made possible by the generous permission of the playwright, director, actors and designers whose work appears here, as well as United Scenic Artists Local 829.
